Extrusion Room

This room houses a twin screw extruder which employs High Moisture Extrusion Technology (HMET) and texturises plant-based protein into viable meat alternatives. These meat alternatives have become increasingly popular due to the growing awareness from the global meat-free movement.

HMET is able to produce meat analogues with a fibrous structure and meat-like texture from plant-protein sources, such as wheat gluten, soy pea, chickpea, mung bean and fava bean proteins.

The same extruder is also able to offer the following categories of products:

  • Expanded snacks
  • Breakfast cereals
  • Pastas
  • Texturised vegetable protein
  • Flavour compounds
